Pitching with the correct mechanics increases control and will help develop confidence. Increasing velocity and spin increases success. Instruction begins with the player and her willingness to "let it fly", practice perfect, and commit to learning fix-it strategies. Our approach is to develop the whole athlete.
Bullpen pitching lessons with Jill di Monda - Middletown, & Killingworth, CT
Abby is developing a curve ball. She has been hitting her directions and now spotting her locations consistently. She is ready to learn more complex spins.
Eliminating extra movement can help. Cal is using her launch to be on-time. This allows her to be in good posture. She can now use all of her strength, creates a faster ball and more power.
When pitcher Kaleigh is practicing long throws, she sees the results of in-line force behind the ball!
You can video a lesson to help with at-home practices. Posture and firm front side demonstrated here by Jill. Drops, Curves, Change-ups, Rises,.... learn the spins, practice techniques, and release.
Rowyn is from Portland, a high honors student, attends East Catholic H.S. in CT.. Class of 2028
Coach Natalie throwing 62 mph. Slo-Mo video analysis helps us view position & posture, thus maximizing potential speed and control.
Using the half-ball focuses on the spin direction and rotation. The drills help the pitcher work on the spin in isolation - increasing mastery.

Being in the best position, with correct timing, and direction of force allows for maximum power. The strength and conditioning drills taught in lessons will increase speed.
Beginning your pitch with less movement in the windup - can help the pitcher have greater focus on the release. Maintaining your posture - to be sure the angle of your release remains constant. Doing the release drills - can increase muscle memory.
The video analysis will slow-down the mechanics - to break it down or to capture a still moment. The video allows the instruction to progress = better results. Questions can be answered. Am I on-time? What is my posture on this pitch? Where are my hips on the stride and force behind the ball? Is my hand on the snap? ...Many more. This is especially important for the beginners - and those wanting to learn spins.
A pitcher should throw the fastball with consistent command first. Spins can be taught when the pitcher wants to begin to add movement to the ball.
Typically, I hold lessons in Middletown & Killingworth, CT. Available week days & weekends. This is all based on scheduling.
No. Targets are used during the lessons. They help to develop command. If you want to bring a catcher - that is okay, but not necessary.
We are 100% confident that our daughter Kaleigh would not be the pitcher she is today without the undeniable support that we have received over the past 8 years from Jill di Monda. Jill has been with Kaleigh since the beginning of her pitching career as a fifth grader, all the way through her college recruitment in which she will soon be playing at Haverford College.
Jill’s knowledge of the game encompasses more than we could have ever imagined, and her expertise is spot on. If a problem arises, Jill always knows what to do, and works tirelessly with Kaleigh to help her first understand what she is doing, and then to adjust her movements to help fix the problem.
The knowledge of the game runs deep for Jill. She teaches not only the skill of the game, but the love of the game. How did we get so lucky? I am not sure. But we would not trade Jill’s coaching and friendship for anything. We are all better because of her on and off of the field. We promise that your daughter will benefit from her time with Jill, as will you. Jill is the real deal!
Caleigh will be pitching in college! This wouldn’t have happened without Jill di Monda working with Cal over the past 1.5 years. Since Cal has started with Jill, she has increased her fastball from 55 mph to 62 mph and taught her new pitches, such as a dominating rise and curve. Jill has brought Cal along from learning how to pitch to becoming a successful pitcher. Cal has learned what to throw and when. Jill goes above and beyond for her students; she has that intangible of connecting with her students and makes it fun to work hard. She checks in frequently with Cal and supports her both on and off the mound. Her commitment, dedication, knowledge,
friendship and support is unmatched. Thank you, Jill! Cal attends Emmerson College
